I am pleased to announce that on 12/31/2001 the main hull, primary thrust, and minimal navigation have been completed on the K.S.S. Harbnger in lantan.
My own feelings were ambivelent. I shuddered in dread at the thought of the vessel sinking like a stone or if it would go as expected. I, like the hundreds of others could only watch as the huge tube of dark steel, mithral and adamantine slid into the water after having the bottle break on the bow.
I listened for every little noise that could spell disaster then coming to alert when the locks were released and with an almost aching groan the Harbinger slowly creeped into the water. The mooring lines came tight as it went out signifying it being cleared of the platform and we all waited.
My own life seemed to pause as the splashing stoped and it settled to the water line and sat in the water. I could almost not believe it as the 190 foot long and 50 foot wide tube bobed up and down in the water, its gleeming yellow hull illuminating the water around it.
The crowd murmered and clapped, but i knew it was not over and slowly made my way to the gang plank that was being laid out for my crossing onto the hull. My crew followed. They seemed so eager, but in my heart was the constant dread of what could be happening inside, and down we went into bridge.
On the bridge i saw the lighting was on and water level indicators read green telling me the hull was sound. I felt myself sigh with relief as the crew took thier positions and for the first time I turned on the main drive for operation. I could feel it spin up the vessel now vibrated differently than on the dock. I Inserted the operation crystal turning on the navigation and the crystal orb came to life with a view of the dock and the surrounding area. I could see the fish swimming below and around the hull and see in the deep darkness the floor of the harbor. The navigation lights powered to full intensity. The Harbinger was alive finally!
I knew it was time. I gave the order to back slowly then felt a lurch as the engines came to life and the vessel began to move under its own power. It was only a short trip to the berth it would spend the next 6 to 8 months being fitted with the rest of the systems, but to me it an eternity.
I had put some much of my own power, heart, and devontion into the Harbinger and now it had been born. My Lantanese crew knew what they were doing having been trained for many months just for this time, and for the first time I took my place in the captains chair and gave the commands to manuaver the vessel into the berth where the mooring lines would be attached, and gang plank would be set out to welcome aboard my visitors from haven.
Of the people of Haven the following are in the crew:

I figure i will need the following:
Main and secondary hulls, main drive system, airconditioning and purification, and engineering controls (includes engineering controls on the bridge:
10,000 ingots of adamantine.
30,000 ingots of mithral.
40,000 ingots of darksteel.
10,000 ingots of iron.
Decking, paneling, and misc controls will require these added materials:
500 treated planks of sheredan.
100 treated planks of duskwood.
In engineering I will need the the following:
Main drive, life support and balast systems:
10 pristine power essenses.
5 pristine water essenses.
5 pristine air essenses.
Dynamic structural reinforment barriers, water breachment barriers:
5 pristine fire essenses.
5 pristine power essesnes.
surface and underwater navigation systems:
5 radiant air essenses
5 radiant water essenses
5 radiant power essenses
Portholes will be ground high denisty volcanic glass.
As of this point I have made no descion about weaponry except the raming saws on the bow made from adamantine, and darksteel. I am open to any suggestions on this matter, but i am leaning towards a high power sonic device somewhere around 200 to 220 decibels.
(hehe, do you realize how ridicluous amount of power that is? lol, a nuke is around 240 db. but she knows nothing about nukes and always thinks big

Bon voyage!
A few fun facts about submarines in ancient times:
Alexander the Great (356 to 323 B.C.) ruler of Macedonian and conqueror of the known world in his time, is the first person known to have descended into the sea in a vessel of any kind.
The first boat known to have been navigated under water was built in 1620 by a Dutchman, Cornelius Van Drebbel. Van Drebbel is said to have developed a chemical which would purify the air and allow the crew to stay submerged for extended periods.
Over three hundred years ago, Mother Shipton, famous English prophetess, predicted the coming of the submarine when writing, "under water men shall walk, shall ride, shall sleep, shall talk."
Records of attempts to utilize submarine warfare go back to the earliest writings in history. Herodotus (460 B.C.), Aristotle (332 B.C.) and Pliny, the elder, (77 A.D.) mention determined attempts to build submersibles.
Leonardo da Vinci, the Florentine Renaissance inventor and artist, developed plans for an underwater warship but kept them secret. He was afraid that it would make war even more frightful than it already was.
So, as you can see, while original, the idea of a submersible vessel was not unheard of, even before the age of the microwave dinners and YouTube vlogs

- a message is delivered to Kara*
I Kalek, believe I have a suitable name for this vessel. As was posted on the message board in Sharessia's center of town, I wish to submit this name as a candidate.
The Sea Spanker.

- a message to Kara*
Hey Kara, I saw your post on the noticeboard about looking for names for your submarine. Looking at it's shape on the drawings I've seen, it looks a lot like a serated arrow. You could name it something that fits the look, or something sexual which, knowing you as I do, will probably tempt you.
Names I think fit with the look would be: Sea Arrow, Sea Barb, Sea Sword, Swordfish, things like that.
Names that just sounds good might be: The Relentless, The Harbinger, The Sea Serpent. Black Dragons are aquatic, so if the ship was black, The Black Dragon might be a good name.
Sexually suggestive could include: Valkur's Thrust, (Valkur is a god of naval combat and sailing in general.) Spray Rider or just simply Long, Hard and Wet.
I hope this helps!

I think asking around for a name will eventually give you nothing constructive. It would sounds odd to think your creation to be named by someone outside of the project, as weird as letting anyone giving a name to your first born.
Thus I advise you to keep the original name : the Naughtylus

In honor of the queen, she should be titled Her Majesties Ship, so H.M.S. but the name of the submersible ship should be
H.M.S. Deep Pickle
I hear tell it resembles one, and if you get stuck in the deep, you will be in one.

Another idea might be to use an elvish name. It has been explained to me that this project might be appropriately attributed to some fey ideas and effort.
I offer this: H.M.S. Sylalavel
Meaning - Faerie Sea Sword
