Proclamation of the House:

For Haven, and all of Faerun itself, let it be known that this day marks the beginning of a new era, for today marks the founding of a new House of the Drow.

With the blessing of the Viceroy, and the Crown of Haven, this house will not be like so many others, we are built on hope and understanding, offering peace and sanctuary for Drow refugees, and newcomers alike. Those who escape the Underdark are often overwhelmed by surface life, and it doesn’t help that the surface residents frown upon Drow, but not without reason, for the denizens of the Underdark have taught their brand of cruelty as a harsh lesson to the world above.

Yet, this is not who all Drow are. Many find their strength and will to overcome the ways of most of their kin. Some even make their own way to the surface, sacrificing everything they had and knew, and often losing the ones dearest to them along the way. For the brave souls that make it, the house will act to help those Drow that reach Haven, offering place they can rest, a place to take the time they need to adjust and grow, to learn new, peaceful ways of living, a true family living, and bringing awareness to the greater things in life.

The rest of Haven may find peace of mind in the fact that the house will insure loyalty, and prosperity, to Haven. For it swears itself to the prosperity, and safety, of Haven, and the best interests of those who proudly proclaim they are loyal citizens of Haven.

Among the duties to Haven itself, we also proudly bear the responsibility to protect and maintain a grand shrine of Eilistraee, the dark maiden. Her wisdom and guidance has been a beacon of hope to so many Drow that this is a debt that we are only too willing to oblige to pay. She grants shelter and aid to her followers, and it is only fitting that we help those seeking mercy from the hardships of life. The shrine itself will be available to visit by Drow and non-Drow alike, offering a point for both to learn to love all and one another as the maiden teaches.

Let it also be understood that all may not favor our presence. To those Drow, and others of likewise evil intent, the house will be another shield, against such ill things, that serves loyalty to insure the safety, and continued prosperity of Haven, understand that you shall find no mercy, aid, or shelter among us. We serve under Haven Law, and as such, Haven Law shall be respected, followed and if need be, enforced.

Thus let all rejoice and be happy in welcoming the newest institution of Haven ... The House of Duul'ssom !
