At present there are four ways to become or play a slave on this server.

1) Choose at character creation to play one and select the relevant area collar being Haven/Crown, Kortugan, Thayan and Mithuth.

2) Be a punishment collar

3) IC wish to become someone's slave

4) Be a forced collar, meaning IC you don't wish to be but OOC you're into the idea

ALL of those options need the OOC consent of the player, some more obviously than others.

Regardless of how IC RP is progressing YOU as a the player ALWAYS and I mean ALWAYS have the right to redlight/refuse a direction that would lead to your character being enslaved if OOC you don't want it.

Anyone wishing to enslave your character MUST obtain your OOC permission to do so.

It should also be noted it is against server rules to remake a free character to have a collar or to remake a slave without a collar. This MUST be handled by a DM either making the free person a slave or the slave a free person.

This allows the DM in question to chat with you and ensure you ARE 100% OOC happy with the choice to now become a slave and that you were in no way shape or form railroaded, or bullied IC or OOC.

This is done to protect the more delicate of our players who are inclined to go along with things cause it's where the RP was going and they don't want to make waves and also those who aren't aware of the above.

Of the above, options 2, 3 and 4 ALL require your OOC permission to be obtained and you are free to refuse it regardless of how the IC RP has progressed.

If you are presently in a situation where any of those three options applies and you were NOT asked OOC and wish you HAD refused/redlighted it then please, please contact one of the DM's and explain the situation so they can assist you.

It should be noted that option 1 is not without it's pitfalls as every 'regions' slavery is different with the slaves being treated in very different ways so it pays to do your research on them before you pick them to make sure they will be the right 'fit' for the character you have in mind.

Option 4 due to Forced Collars being illegal in Haven as a whole IC are much more complicated these days and MUST involve a DM.

If your slave is officially released the DM's WILL remove your characters collar and make them a free person. If someone tells you OOC they have freed you but mechanically the collar has to stay...They are talking shit. Feel free of course to RP IC them telling you are free and finding out you aren't actually!

Haven/Crown slavery is the 'softest' of all the options with those slaves having the most rights and protection so is a good place to start if trying slavery for the first time.
