Heyhey
I have only recently given NwN2 a second Chance at Multiplayer and I'm pretty amazed by what I see having been achieved by the community since the game had been released, I still stumble over a huge problem and I hope that maybe someone can help me with it.
I have absolutely no problems running any of the single player campaigns and I'm barely, if ever crashing during online play, though I do get a lot of timeouts some times.
But while I can run around Haven without problems, and move along the Islands in the south once I turned all shadows off without any slowdowns, my whole NwN2 goes absolutely Bogus the very moment I enter the Goblin Island.
I am often unable to click any buttons for long periods of time, my chars will not move despite me clicking and another time move without being clicked at, the music will stop playing occasionally and everything just kinda seems to freeze (GUI chatbox, character movement) safe for the spawns and other players still moving.
I have tried toning my Graphics down to the absolute minimum with no gain whatsoever, I have the newest Drivers for my Ati Radeon Card and a Computer (Win7 64 bit, Quad Core CPU, 4 Gig Ram) able to run Dragon age or Mass effect 2 on maximum Settings without even a little slowdown, yet, that area seems to bust me.
Other players do not seem to have the same problems I have though maybe some had and managed to fix it?
It's really only that one area , so far at least, it's not like i have seen much of the server or been anywhere else since the first days after the games release, but unfortunately also the one Area where these lockups are really nasty on you.
So... yes, I'd be grateful on any Tips that can be given, I can play single player on full Graphics with no problems but as soon as I enter that one area on Haven not even reducing texture quality and turning shadows off will help much...

I'm not sure it's a server based problem as other players I asked about it seemed to have no problems at all with the area, but much thanks.

Not sure if this will work but please try going into the the ..\Neverwinter Nights 2\modules\Haven-Autodownloader subfolder of your account's (my) documents directory
Remove the file "goblin island.trx", it'll get redownloaded
Its vaguely possible there is a minor corruption of that file causing issues.

Okay, I think I found the problem after a lot of sniffling through help boards.
It seems while NwN2 Toolset supports multicore CPUs, the game itself does not, so, with my Quad core, the game kept shifting the workload back and forth from one Core to another, and those were the hiccups I experienced, the Cores just could not decide who should process the next action. ^^'
I now assigned a single Core to handle NwN2 by itself over the Taskmanager and did a quick Testrun through the Goblin Isle, and now everything seems to run beautifully smooth (I hope at least, still have to perform a real, long stresstest yet. ^^')
My guess is the problem was just especially visible on the Goblin Island because the area with all the spawning and dying Monsters is rather taxing on the CPU.
