Buying a Kortugan Slave

This can be done either by using Morlen in the office off the docks to contact a DM or by approaching the Warden of the Slaver's Guild, Marie Colt. Please be respectful to both DM's and Marie's player regarding their play time. This means no hassling DM's if they are on their player accounts. If they are on as a DM it will show up on the far right hand of the Kemo scry window. (Usually best to use DM Channel, "/dm Is anyone available to do a Kortugan slave collaring?". Allows multiple DMs on to decide who to answer and is less demanding than a direct request. -Bar)

Kortugan slaves must either be 10th level to be purchased or if the player prefers not to grind they can be raised to 10th level and then they will be given a token that prevents XP gain from grinding. The raising and token giving can only be done by Kemo.

A slaves price is generally 500 gold BUT it could easily be more depending various factors such as the slave being a virgin. Also, should more than one character be interested in a slave that slave may be auctioned.

Playing a Kortugan Slave

You will need to contact Marie Colt reasonably soon after you have created your slave to be orientated. This is basically being talked through the Slave Compliance Laws, receiving your livery, discussing how you slave will earn their keep and OOC any particular wants/needs you have in a Master or Mistress

IC we do not care who we sell you to. OOC, we do....You will be asked before your sale goes through if you are happy with it and if you have felt pressured into it. If you do have ANY issues this really is the time to bring them up please.

Collaring a free person to be a Kortugan slave and/or forced collars

Due to the possible emotive issues with this, it can only be done by a DM. Warden Colt can only trade in existing Guild slaves. Also in the case of 'Forced collars' the Kortugan Officials need to be 'bribed' to break the Haven law against such so expect it to cost much more.

Transferring slaves

This is fiddly and uncommon and is thus the DM only thing.

General information

Playing a Kortugan slave is not soft and fluffy. There is a livery....We don't care if you think it's ugly. You are likely to get abused by Kortugan citizens as per the slave compliance laws :-

"Slaves must obey all instructions given by the Margrave. In the absence of instructions from the Margrave, slaves must obey reasonable instructions given by Marie Colt or Delio Saintsfield. In the absence of such instructions, slaves must obey within reasonable limits the requests of any citizen of Kortuga. Slaves are not required to obey any instructions given by any free person who is not a citizen of Kortuga, or by any non-free person (including Servants) who is not an official of the Kingdom of Haven"

This means that as long as you are comfortable with it OOC then do it. You still have the right to send a tell saying your not comfortable with that request while IC refusing BUT if you do IC refuse, come and tell Warden Colt and then let me know OOC why to back up the RP please.

It should also be noted that this section of the Slave Compliance Laws does NOT allow citizens or members of the militia to punish Slaves for their behaviour or for breaking the Slave Compliance Laws.

The Margraves Edict on Slave jurisdiction clearly states that grievances with slaves should be taken to either Warden Colt or Ambassador Saintsfield dependant on where the complaint originates from

Again...this does NOT mean Citizens can't abuse slave, simply that they can not use the Slave Compliance Laws nor the slaves behaviour to do so WITHOUT the permission of the Slavers Guild. Trust me....you come and tell Marie a slave has behaved badly to you and 9 times out of 10 she'll let you punish it.

These rules, edicts and points aren't here in an attempt to spoil your fun and can if used correctly enhance it. The thing it remember is that Kortuga is at present a LE city and at present these are the rules and edicts in place. Yes they might be different to how it was 6 months ago and hell, it could all be different in another 6 months but while it is what we have, let's work with it.

For example...if a slave backchats you....drag them to Marie....Have her try to smooth your ruffled feathers at their behaviour...see where it gets you...Might get you a few free drinks and the chance to have at the slave for all you know

Can I ask a DM to sticky this please and can I ask players to follow this with sensible questions NOT complaining about things being this way. Things aren't always exactly as we would have them and if things do change it will be through constructive discussion not complaining. Thank you
