I have seen that there are two chat commands I can use to set and clear my Kemo Bio:
>setbio
>clearbio
Is there any command to export the Kemo Bio? There seems no way to get this information out of game to manipulate. If I could somehow get it to dump to chat, I could capture the text that way from chat logs.
The reason I ask is that I wish to save my IG Kemo Bio to use either in populating my character's forum bio or also to repopulate the Kemo Bio after a planned rebuild to fix character sheet skill allocations. I have tried exporting my character and viewing my bic locally but either I am missing the Kemo Bio there or it is not stored in the bic. Thanks in advance for the help!

If I remember right, the bio's are stored on the DMFI Tools.
You could try using the client extension's logs. When you simply open up the bio for editing, I don't think it registers, since it doesn't show in the chat or system windows. But if you use the >setbio command, I believe it should pop up in the chat log of the client extension since you'll be using the chat window to write the bio.
Hope that helps.

Unfortunately >setbio with no text does not pull up the bio in either the client extension console or chat panel. You get a message box "KEMO Bio set" and it is blown away.

Yes. As I remember it, that's not how you use the command
You type ">setbio < enter bio text here >" (without the " and the < >
). In essence, it doesn't bring up a window to edit the bio in, but takes the text you put behind the >setbio function and automatically overwrites the bio with it.
Since the game has a rather limited cap on maximum number of characters in a single message, I suggest you use the client extension's chat window to use the command, as it has a much much higher cap on maximum number of characters.

Right then... well I guess that reading:
What you are saying now instead does match the chat commands page:
I had read this already, which was why I posted yesterday and sought some way to export the text. Luckily I took screen shots of my bio panel before attempting your previous direction and with a bit of hoop-jumping cropping the panel from the screens and using http://www.free-ocr.com/ was able to get most of my bio back.

Use the >setbio command followed by any text. This will set your current KEMO Bio text. By this method, in combination with the Client Extension (using the external chat window), you can paste text from outside NWN2 into your bio. Only use this command when your KEMO Bio panel is closed. (This command does not eliminate the option to set your bio using the Bio panel.)

It's simple: >setbio will set the bio. Otherwise it would be called >openbio or >showbio or even >editbio.
Example:
>setbio This is the text that goes into your bio and describes your characters. You can use the client extension to copy / paste the bio like this into the game.

Yes-- the setbio command did appear to be and is a very simple way to set one's bio.
However, as I stated in my original post I wasn't looking for any instruction to clear or set my bio, but to export it...
There is nothing in the command description to suggest it does anything but set the bio. It was only the statement:
that one could use the setbio command to have the bio panel exported which led me to attempt this use of the command.
As I reported it does not work, but only clears the bio without loading any existing one into the client extension. The best work around I can find is to take a screen shot and then use an OCR program capable of reading in jpegs.

You misunderstood me. What I was saying is, that if you use the >setbio command to WRITE your bio, then it will show up in the chat window and you can export it. So you'd have to write out a bio with the command, but the bio that you write out when you use it CAN bio be exported because you used the command to write it, not the kemo bio panel.
So no, you can't use it to export an existing bio. You can use it to export a newly written bio.

Uhmm.. I tried that too-- it doesn't work either. FYI-- setbio does not export a bio in any way that I can see, regardless of whether the bio was entered IG in the panel or entered in via the setbio command. It only reads in an external bio importing it into the game.
I appreciate the attempt at help but it seems that you are guessing here. Where are you getting these ideas from?

From the fact that the client extension records your chat logs. So if you were to use a method that uses the chat window, it should be recorded in the log. And since the log is a text file, you could copy+paste from it.
But no, I've never done the procedure. It just came to mind that it might work, so I thought I'd share it in case it'd help.
What she's saying is that since the command uses the chat window and you can copy+paste into the chat panel of the client extension (not the game itself, only the extra window that the client extension has), you can write your bio in a text editor and simply copy+paste it into the game, the forums, anywhere you desire.
Hope that clears things up.

Clear as mud!
I understand exactly how it works according to the command description. I just have not been clear on the alternate uses you keep suggesting. Afaik the client extension has nothing to do with chat logs either. I had tweaked my inis and kept chat logs long before Skywing ever released his client extension.
As I said I was able to recover my bio using OCR and screens I had the foresight to take before attempting anything. I have since saved my bio to a text file and so I just used setbio again to test your latest theory and have to report that it does not work that way either. No text is recorded to the chat log-- likely because it is not chat but a command. Even if it were though it would still be far from an export.

You are correct, Hobaccuc. There is currently no way to export your bio except for one: Export your character. It should be somewhere in the bic file.

That was my first thought too. I tried that before I ever posted with little success...
