I'm currently having trouble connecting to the server. Each time I try it says "Required expansion missing." I have both MotB and SoZ installed and fully updated. Any solutions or general help would be greatly appreciated.

Are you sure that's exactly what it said?
I wonder if you haven't pulled down one of these files, properly unpacked or placed it:
http://adl.nwnhaven.com/downloads/haven_effects_v1.7z - full effects, requires a robust graphics card
http://adl.nwnhaven.com/downloads/haven_effects_alt.7z - no light-emitting effects, does not require a robust graphics card
See Required Files for more info.

PS - I don't otherwise know what the problem is. To my knowledge other folks haven't seen this issue. Patch level is 1.23 and you are launching SoZ, right?

"Required Expansion Pack Missing" actually. However, I am running 1.23 and launching SoZ, hak folder has all proper haks from this website and none others. Same with pwc and override--all empty. I have the second haven_effects_alt.7z unpacked and properly placed. It seems I actually get this error trying to join any module, and after a reinstall I still have no success. This is strange seeing as how just this afternoon I was playing on another PW.

Ugh, seems it no longer believes you have SoZ installed, or MotB. May want to check the CD Key ini, but in general you may end up reinstalling.
May want to check (or post the problem to) the ATARI and BIOWARE support forums first:

Can anyone tell where the hell I am supposed to extract the effects hak? I have tried extracting it to the effects and module folder. The server still blocks me from joining. It shows that it cannot find the file. And since there is not a readme.txt in the .zip that says where it is supposed to be extracted to I am asking for help.

The file inside is a hak, so it goes in the hak folder.

Yeah, little problem. I have looked all through my NWN2 folder (and sub folders) I don't have a hak folder. Not one that I can find anyway.
Never mind I found where windows was hiding it. Thank you for the help.

Hi I'm having the same problem with windows 7. Would someone be so kind as to point to where I can find the hak folder? Thanks in advance.

Probably somewhere in C:\Users\SureptitiousR\Documents\Neverwinter Nights 2\hak or similar path. I'm not sure where exactly in Windows 7
