Past Relevant Experience: Growing up i was trained to guard caravans as a slave, i did this for near fifty years. Formerly i was a royal guard, becoming guard captain. I have also ran and helped run the Fighters/Warriors guild for some time.
Reason For Joining: The guards were always a natural home for me. i felt it was my place. it has been long enough i feel i am ready to return.
Questions,
1. Does it matter, to a guards job, if the person in question, is evil or good? It does not, what matters is what someone does. their general disposition. while it may make them seem suspicious/innocent..does not indicate guilt(usually, of course it may indicate falsehoods and the like)
2. Can you put aside your own personal like and dislikes, when dealing with friends, enemies? That i can do..you have to be impartial to insure fairness.
3. Describe how you would approach a typical arrest situation IE assault, attempted murder, rape, or murder: I would first try and detain the suspects and witnesses. splitting them up, if required. Beginning with the person making the complain. or main witness. should there only be that. i would try to discover what happened..after hearing their statement i would talk to the suspect. trying to gather as much information as i can. if they are cooperative. if not..i would try to convince them to follow me to the guard station, failure to comply with requests and warning. or running. would result in me chasing..trying to use other means to subdue..and if needed. using the jail wand.
4. Are you capable of receiving and acting on commands of your superiors, and knowing that, would you be able to resist one that is doing wrong?: I am perfectly capable of following order..and if a superior is known to be int he wrong..i would report them..if they require me to do something unlawful, i would resit. and then report.

Past Relevant Experience: Grew up in the crime filled city of Luskan and dealt with constant danger along with corrupt guards. Serving as Second of the Warriors Guild of Haven currently.
Reason For Joining: To return a service to the nation I call home, and offer my eyes and body to the city guard to help keep our home safe.

1. Does it matter, to a guards job, if the person in question, is evil or good?
No, Being good or evil is opinionated. When questioning someone they should be judged based on available proof of deeds or misdeeds and not based on race or outlook on life.
2. Can you put aside your own personal like and dislikes, when dealing with friends, enemies?
Yes, Justice should always be blind to whomever it may seek.
3. Describe how you would approach a typical arrest situation IE assault, attempted murder, rape, or murder
With a level head, not charging into the situation which would be carefully examined based on the events to decide the proper method for approach rather than charging bull headed into something where lives could be at stake.
4. Are you capable of receiving and acting on commands of your superiors, and knowing that, would you be able to resist one that is doing wrong?
As second of the Warriors guild I understand chain of command. If a superior requested un-lawful activity I would report them to their own superior

Today I recognize my past mis-deeds and have since returned on one occasion to re-pay debts to those I had harmed.
5b.If so what have you learned from that? Lawful acts and career are of higher standard and higher reward to ones own well being, and the well being of others.

Working for the guard will add a sense of accomplishment to my being inside the great city I now call home.

Neatly filled and very carefully bent form is delivered to the guard station. Additional sheets are added to the form as one filling it ran out of space.
One reading it would easily figure that person spent fair amount of time writing things down slowly and very carefully, leaving no spare ink marks or other mess, while each letter is written very clearly, adding strokes here and there to make it look more... pretty...
Another would note that the trash can near the station is filled with semi completed forms of the same handwriting. Text is more or less the same everywhere if one would bother to take a look. While some forms are nearly fully filled others have been just started before finding their place where they are. Words crossed out here and there in some, while others seem to be angrily crumpled before landing amongst the trash.

This is pretty relative anyway, not to mention that I don't I have enough skill and authority to judge on what is which. I think...

Yes.
I would clench my teeth and kick a friend if he deserves such. (And I don't mean situations where one asks for such. I mean literally asks.)
3. Describe how you would approach a typical arrest situation IE assault, attempted murder, rape, or murder
Arrest scenario - Assault
If i am to witness the crime:
I would kick the attacker behind his knees so he falls over. I mean... kick or hit with something I have at that time. Does not really matter much, since aim is to force him fall over. (Stick or chair should do if I'm unarmed otherwise...) And I would shout out "You stop that now!" or something like that, right before kicking. Then i would drag the attacker to our quarters (that's where we bring them in, right?).
If i am to bring in a suspect:
I would approach the suspected individual and kindly ask him to follow me to the guard quarters. You know - smiling kindly, speaking softly and being nice, polite and the like. If said subject would refuse, I would insist less politely, before ordering said subject to come with me. If he would reject again and resist my attempts to drag him over - see above (replace "You stop that now!" with "You come with me now!" or similar)
Arrest scenario - Attempt murder
If i am to witness the crime:
see "Arrest scenario - Assault". Few slight changes though: I would likely throw said stick or chair at the attacker shouting "You stop that now!" or similar to distract him and drag his attention. Rest more or lass as in "Arrest scenario - Assault".
If i am to bring in a suspect:
see "Arrest scenario - Assault"
Arrest scenario - Rape
If i am to witness the crime:
I would first make sure that its indeed an attempt of rape and not... ugh.. well.. consensual game of some sorts. I mean - i would ask the suspect victim about how she/he see's what currently is going on. Then - see "Arrest scenario - Attempt murder" (add few more kicks and punches here and there) if it indeed is a rape. If not - I would apologize for disturbance and leave quickly, very likely blushing a lot.
If i am to bring in a suspect:
see "Arrest scenario - Assault" (I am likely to be a bit less polite and more hash in such case... But I would not kick suspect too many times on our way to the quarters! Promise!)
Arrest scenario - Murder.
If i am to witness the crime:
see "Arrest scenario - Assault". I would also make sure the victim is quickly brought to the Temple for treatment.
If i am to bring in a suspect:

I am capable.
My personal judgment or values do not matter much if I am to follow orders, right? I mean... those in command do know stuffs and us in the lower ranks should just do the stuffs... Unless i am absolutely sure, positive, convinced and such, that command given is to do much more harm then good and ain't right in terms of law and such (what is little likely to happen) I will follow command. I mean... That's what is expected, right?
And then, if doubts would gnaw on my stomach (or elsewhere) - I would take the issue with ones higher in chain of command. I mean, I will complain!
But if I'm sure its no good, and I mean really really sure! Like, absolutely sure, I will decline following the command, taking all the consequences of my act, trusting the judgment of important folks up there afterwards.

I love ice cream. I really do.

3. Describe how you would approach a typical arrest situation IE assault, attempted murder, rape, or murder? I would bring in the accused into custody by force if they resist and question them to determine what has happened to see if they are guilty of said crime

Experience dealing with the law in the past, having been arrested in Waterdeep many times for differant small crimes, this life however, is behind me.
Reason For Joining:
Tired of seeing people go unprotected and being helpless, seeing some live in fear and being able to do nothing about it. I know I have skills, and I want to use them for something useful, something that helps people.
Questions,
1. Does it matter, to a guards job, if the person in question, is evil or good?
It does in a way, as certain spells can affect people based on which of the two they are, as well as certain talents of paladins, or blackguards just to name a few things but furthermore it chances the way a person will behave, an evil person must be treated with more caution then a good one, but a good one can still defy the law even if he is doing it for good reasons. with both types you must take care with either one.

I can yes, I have few enemies after all, and friends must abide by the law same as anyone else, Impartial judgement is an absolute necessity when dealing with matters of the law.

Assault: I would bring those who were fighting, and any others who were involved to the Keep, where I would discuss the matter with them to find out the guilty party, once I had come to a conclusion I would then dismiss the others and see to the punishment of the guilty party.
4. Are you capable of receiving and acting on commands of your superiors, and knowing that, would you be able to resist one that is doing wrong?
I serve House Storm, and the Arcanist's Guild.. in both those matters I obey my superiors already absolutely, So yes I am.
5a.Any past troubles with the law?
Unfortunetly, Yes.. as I've already added in at the top, I was arrested many times for my crimes in Waterdeep, I was a thief, a mugger, and a burglar there.. I worked for a gang known as the Serpents but I have put that life entirely behind me, Now, I strictly stick to my business in Sharessia. There was also this one occasion when I was just having a bit of fun with Lady Melanore, the current Head Wizard of the Arcanist's guild and I went to grab her rear.. and everybody around accused me of trying to steal from her, One man even went so far as to grab my arm, forcefully.

There was also this one occasion when I was just having a bit of fun with Lady Melanore, the current Head Wizard of the Arcanist's guild and I went to grab her rear.. and everybody around accused me of trying to steal from her, One man even went so far as to grab my arm, forcefully.

The last survivor and head of the clan did declare the clan to be lost to the ages and thus my honor oath to defend is now ended. I have followed the urgings of my heart to join the temple and am confident will soon be granted title. Now I seek to defend my new home in the best way I can.

If only on my own, I would take statements from all as possible, asking them to return to the keep with me as well. If another guard available, they should interview.

Essentially, no. But drawing conclusions based on one's disposition can be used as a way to determine what happened. That being said, somone who is inherently "good" isn't always innocent, while those inherently "evil" are not always guilty.
2. Can you put aside your own personal likes and dislikes, when dealing with friends or enemies?
Of course. Preserving the safety and peace within Sharessia transcends the relationships between friends and enemies. Proving that you can be fair when dealing with situations is the best way to gain recognition from the citizens, and therefore make the job of a guard that much more significant.
3. Describe how you would approach a typical arrest situation.
First I would begin with diplomacy, if possible. If tensions are too high, or the suspect in question proves to have murderous intent, I will disable him, in a nonlethal fashion. Should they continue to resist, I would detain them and report the to proper authorities. My job is to ensure public safety, I am not a judge.

I've had a few infractions with multiple towns when I was younger, most of them stealing food or beating down a thug. It was a rough time for me, and I had little to no choice in most of the matters.

I have learned that many crimes are committed without ill intent, and that you should attempt leniency should the culprit be HONESTLY repentant. After all, they could become an asset to us later.

Past Experience: Not much, a wanderer for the longest, but from my teachings, I've learned how to properly fight and defend others from harm, I'm also an experienced healer.

Essentially, no. But drawing conclusions based on one's disposition can be used as a way to determine what happened. That being said, somone who is inherently "good" isn't always innocent, while those inherently "evil" are not always guilty.
2. Can you put aside your own personal likes and dislikes, when dealing with friends or enemies?
Of course. Preserving the safety and peace within Sharessia transcends the relationships between friends and enemies. Proving that you can be fair when dealing with situations is the best way to gain recognition from the citizens, and therefore make the job of a guard that much more significant.
3. Describe how you would approach a typical arrest situation.
First I would begin with diplomacy, if possible. If tensions are too high, or the suspect in question proves to have murderous intent, I will disable him, in a nonlethal fashion. Should they continue to resist, I would detain them and report the to proper authorities. My job is to ensure public safety, I am not a judge.

I have not yet worked as a guard, but I am often in Sharessia proper and am often reminding others of the laws.
Reason For Joining:
As stated above, I am often in Sharessia unless I am hunting, or spending time with my husband and newborn child. But when I am within Sharessia, I am often finding myself reminding individuals of the laws of the land. I do not often see many guards in place, perhaps one or two on a good day. I wish to help where I can, if I can, in order to make life easier for the citizens herein.

No. All that matters are actions of the accused, fact, proof, evidence of an accusation. If there is no proof, there is no case.

I can, and have in the past. I have no issues what-so-ever in telling someone when they're in the wrong. Even if they're my friend. Wrong is wrong, friendship or no friendship.

Calmness is key. Patience as well. Approach the subject, calmly, but keep a close eye on their movements to be sure they will not draw steel, or any other weapons on you or bystanders. Inform them that they will need to come with you to the keep, and give them the reasons why. Make sure they know why they are to come with you to the Keep, and keep it truthful. The accuser should be asked where they were at the time of the crime, who they were with, if they have any alibis, and or proof that they were where they said they were. Judgement should be based solely on proof and not emotion. If there is no proof on either the accused or the accuser's side, seek aid from a higher ranking official before further action. Keep a level head throughout the entire process.

I worked as a dancer, during my 18-20 years of age. During this time, I was often hired for private dancing. And when a patron got too handsy with me........ Well, if they didn't stop after repeated requests, and no bouncers were available to protect me, then I took care of the issue myself. A few fingers were broken, I admit, but I did what I had to do, to protect myself. I am not ashamed of that. Sadly, I had to do this to a noble, because he simply would not stop trying to grab me and pull me into his lap. He made it very clear what he wished me to do, and I was having none of it. So I took care of the situation myself, and the noble in question had me arrested.

I have learned that even though there are those to protect you, there are instances where you really have no choice, and are forced to protect yourself. I learned that nothing is infallible. I also learned that in protecting myself, I am capable of protecting others. I have no shame in the actions that led to my eventual arrest in the above-stated situation, as I was protecting myself from harm.

I was trained by a very capable warrior, and I believe I can lend those learned abilities in defense of the city when needed. All in all, I just want to help, where I can. I think that, in my time in Sharessia, which is 80% of my time these days, that I can keep an eye on things as they develop. Though time with my family will always take priority, and I cannot and will not lie about that. I cannot be a guard all hours of the day. No one can. Reason For Joining: I love people! I want to protect them and keep them safe from harm. Much of the outside world is cruel and dark, keeping Sharessia safe is important to me.

Oh no, I totally learned that it isn't up to the guard to decide that sort of thing. If yer doin somethin that'l bring harm te others you should really stop one way or other. But! If yer a good person I'm sure it'l all be sorted out by the people in the court room, they're super nice there. (Also if yer wonderin why the room is so clean, that's because I did a super good job of cleaning it)

Oh my friends are super sweeties, that wouldn't even come up bec-- Oh durn it, I shouldn't write that here. *A neat line is crossed out through the previous sentence* Being a guard is all about keeping the city and the people in it safe. I'm sure my friends and enemies would understand that by treating them as anyone else that I'm keepin them safe in the long run! If I didn't, how could they trust me to be a good guard? Well my enemies might not think that, but once yer a guard yeh represent the crown, so who your enemies were don't matter no more as you while you have that uniform on, yer the shield fer the crown.

It's super important te make sure that the crime is being committed first! One time I thought someone was bein raped and I ran in te save them but... uhm... It turns out that they were jus pretendin and then they both got kinda mad at me..
But! Once yeh figured out a crime is going on the first thing to do is ask that everyone stop and come wif yeh. Sometimes this will be enough cause most people wont wanna keep doin what they're doin if a guard asks em te stop. But if they don't, then they should be arrested. After yeh do that yeh need te ask everyone around what happened and get as much information as possible! It don't help none if yeh skip out on that important part, cause it makes the court room part a lot harder. (I learned this when I accidentally overheard a case in the court room, which only happened because I was cleaning the door at the time. It was door cleaning day)

I have a lot of experience following orders from me superiors, cause till I was bought the same people actually were my superiors! There was a super small incident back in Delzimmer where I tripped and fell off of a podium and knocked an oil lamp into a set of curtains.. *The next part is written in very small words* which ended up resulting in burning down a few city blocks before it was contained..

Be super careful around fire! But even more importantly, yeh never know when a huge disaster will appear outta nowhere, so it's important te be ready to contain a dangerous situation right away because it kin quickly spiral out of control!

Reason For Joining: I'm debating on whether I should bring my children and family to Sharessia or not, but as it is right now I just don't find it to be a safe place for them to be. I'd like to help change that.

1. Does it matter, to a guards job, if the person in question, is evil or good?: Evil and Good is a matter of perspective, no one but yourself can place such tags on other people, so no. Evil or Good matters little.

Describe how you would approach a typical arrest situation IE assault, attempted murder, rape, or murder: If the evidence is clear enough to warrant an arrest, I'd move fast and with determination. Quickly subduing the criminal and taking them to the Keep. If the evidence is not clear enough, then I'd approach the situation carefully, assess the situation to the best of my ability and if possible, lead the suspect to the Keep for further questioning.
