Issue with Character Disappearing?

So I just downloaded the big ol' module and I made a character. Gave him a good look and all, distributed his stats and then created. Went to the golem and talked to him. Eventually got to the point where it said it'd boot me to edit the character file. Got booted, tried to come back on and found that my character did not exist.

Just curious if it takes a while to edit ooorrr should it be instant?

Haven is set in the Forgotten Realms campaign setting as published by Wizards of the Coast, as is all the Neverwinter Nights and Baldur's Gate series.

Please be mindful to at least not disrupt this illusion.

Fanciful departures from the basic character templates, races and backgrounds are not exactly encouraged, but allowed with DM approval. Highly recommended that you start with something reasonably first and get to know the server before requesting something off the wall.
